Description:

Key actors in connecting citizens and their needs with decision-makers are civil society organizations, particularly those operating at the local level and representing the voices of citizens. In the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, there is a strong need to connect CSOs with local authorities in order to advocate for and address issues and problems, thereby creating better living conditions for all citizens equally and contributing to the development of successful local communities.

The objectives of the proposed grant schemes are:

• Strengthening the capacities of CSOs and informal groups in identifying problems and advocating for their solutions.
• Enhancing the capacities of CSOs and informal groups in areas such as administration, finance, project proposal development, fundraising, project implementation, as well as financial and narrative reporting.
• Networking and connecting CSOs and informal groups with citizens, other local organizations, relevant local institutions, representatives of authorities, and local businesses to identify ongoing issues and work together to find solutions.
• Support and capacity-building programs tailored to the specific needs of CSOs, as well as local authorities and other relevant societal actors, enabling them to be more efficient and higher-quality partners to one another.

Driven by experience and practice, LDA Mostar has developed a grant scheme program intended for CSOs and informal groups in the HNC area, with the goal of strengthening civil society capacities and fostering better cooperation among citizens, local authorities and institutions. This collaboration aims to jointly identify problems and develop solutions.
