Fusing Art and Global Education for Social Engagement

International Training Held within the Pirouette 2 Project

From May 17 to 23, 2025, an inspiring setting in Veliki Gaj, Serbia, hosted an international training dedicated to exploring the transformative potential of performative arts in non-formal education and global social engagement. The training was organized by project partner MAGNET, with the vibrant Magnet House becoming a hub of creativity for youth workers and young artists from six European countries.

Throughout the seven-day intensive programme, participants engaged in various artistic methods to explore how performative arts can empower communities and address pressing social challenges. Through dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of experiences, they developed concrete ideas to share with their local communities.

Training Focus:

  • Connecting art, education, and activism

  • Fostering a sense of global citizenship

  • Using creative expression as a tool for social change

  • Promoting inclusion and visibility of marginalized artists

The training’s true value lay in creating space for personal growth, recognition of individual social responsibility, and the development of tools for active engagement through art. Performative practices enabled participants to raise awareness of global issues and lay the foundation for local artistic and educational initiatives.

Next Steps
The knowledge and skills gained during the training will soon be transferred to local contexts through a variety of activities in Mostar and other communities of the partner organizations. Planned initiatives include workshops, artistic interventions, and public events designed to encourage young people and artists to take an active role in socially engaged processes.

All upcoming activities and opportunities to get involved will be shared on our social media channels, website, and official project communications. We invite everyone interested to follow us and become part of this creative and socially engaged journey.
