DESCRIPTION

The project is designed to strengthen youth participation, civic engagement, and mental health and well-being through inclusive, safe, and supportive environments, while simultaneously enhancing the capacities of youth organizations and youth workers across Europe. The project is transnational in nature, implemented in 18 European countries at local, national, and European levels.

Throughout 2025, TUNE intends to implement a series of online and in-person training sessions on topics such as youth civic engagement, democratic participation, project management, and digital tools. Youth workers will enhance their facilitation and leadership skills, enabling them to provide higher-quality support to young people in implementing local initiatives, while youth will have the opportunity to develop key competencies, organize campaigns, facilitate workshops, and lead community activities.

The plan includes conducting training for youth workers and young people to strengthen their participation in democratic processes, alongside organizing thematic workshops and transnational meetings for knowledge exchange and European-level cooperation. The focus will be on implementing youth initiatives and local actions for community development, executing mental health awareness campaigns, and developing new tools and methodological resources to improve the inclusiveness of youth work. The entire process will be finalized with networking events aimed at strengthening partnerships and ensuring greater visibility of our activities on the international stage.

Local activities and training sessions in each partner organization will ensure that participation opportunities are accessible to young people from diverse backgrounds, especially those with fewer opportunities. A European consultative survey and the annual General Assembly will allow for progress monitoring, strategy adaptation, and the strengthening of democratic governance within the network.

Through this work program, the TUNE Network strives to establish long-term and sustainable structures for inclusive youth participation and to strengthen the impact of member organizations at both local and European levels.

NETWORK MAIN OBJECTIVES

  • Strengthen youth participation in democratic and civic life, creating inclusive tools and spaces, both online and offline, for youth to participate in shaping their communities.
  • Support youth-led initiatives through non-formal education and mentoring, where Member organisations will provide structured support for young people to develop their own ideas and lead local actions.
  • Expand and safeguard civic space for youth, through structured dialogue with local authorities, cocreation of participation plans, and advocacy campaigns.
  • Foster cross-border collaboration and knowledge-sharing with the facilitation of joint initiatives, peer learning, and exchange of good practices among its 20 member organisations from 17
  • Increase visibility and influence youth policy in public policy at local, national, and European level, strengthening the impact of youth advocacy.
  • Build financial sustainability for the network and its members, by providing training in diversifying funding sources, reinforcing internal capacities, and developing strategic partnerships.

Target Groups:

  • Youth Workers:
Strengthen their capacities through trainings on civic engagement and inclusion, while improving facilitation, leadership, and organisational skills to support youth participation.
  • Young People:
The main target group, actively involved in trainings, facilitation, campaigns, and local actions, developing skills and contributing to the network, with a focus on those with fewer opportunities.
  • Working Group Participants (Youth & Youth Workers):
A smaller group (approx. 21 participants) collaborating on topics such as participation, inclusion, mental health, and capacity-building, while developing teamwork and producing concrete results.
  • Local Youth Organisations:
Gain access to tools, methodologies, and transnational cooperation, increasing their visibility and strengthening their impact at both local and European levels.

RESULTS

The TUNE Network will result in the strengthened capacities of youth workers and young people through education, the development of tools, and the implementation of local activities in the fields of civic engagement and inclusion.

The project will lead to improved youth well-being and resilience, enhanced organizational capacities, increased youth participation in democratic processes, and strengthened cooperation among youth organizations in Europe. Young people will take on active roles as facilitators, campaign organizers, and leaders of local initiatives, thereby improving their communication, leadership, and teamwork skills. A special focus is placed on involving young people with fewer opportunities, contributing to greater inclusion and equal participation. Furthermore, the project will reinforce cooperation between youth organizations through the work of thematic groups, the co-creation of results, and the exchange of best practices.

In the long term, the project contributes to the enhancement of quality youth services, the development of inclusive communities, and increased youth involvement in democratic processes, while creating a sustainable and connected European network of youth organizations.

IMPLEMENTED ACTIVITIES

TUNE International Training Course: From Ideas to Action – Kruševo, North Macedonia

The aim of this activity was to empower youth participation, democratic dialogue, and the understanding of e-democracy through non-formal education and transnational exchange. During the international training, which included a representative from LDA Mostar as part of the TUNE Network, young people and youth workers from across Europe exchanged best practices and strengthened international cooperation. Key results include the successful implementation of the training, empowered cross-border networks, and increased visibility of the Erasmus+ program. Participants improved their knowledge of civic engagement, and all member organizations received resources to organize local debates with youth. Long-term effects are reflected in the increased motivation of young people to launch their own initiatives, stronger intercultural understanding, and continued collaboration within the TUNE Network.

Local Debate: Should Mobile Phones Be Banned in Schools? – Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The aim of this activity was to encourage youth participation, critical thinking, and democratic dialogue on educational topics that directly affect them. As part of the TUNE Network activities, LDA Mostar organized a structured debate where 15 young people explored the impact of mobile phones on learning, concentration, and communication. Using a format of affirmative and negative arguments, participants considered balanced and responsible solutions within the education system. Key results include the successful implementation of the debate and an empowered exchange of perspectives, while long-term effects are evident in improved communication and teamwork skills. The youth demonstrated increased motivation to participate in discussions on educational reforms and expressed interest in future debates regarding changes in the school system.
