LDA Mostar as a Resource Center: Students Introduced to Real-World Project Management Processes

On Friday, March 27, 2026, the Local Democracy Agency (LDA) Mostar organized an educational meeting and practical presentation for students of the Faculty of Economics and the University Study of Interior Design at the “Džemal Bijedić” University of Mostar. The activity was implemented in cooperation with teaching assistant Tajma Taso Fejzić, as part of the regular curriculum for the Project Management course, with the aim of connecting theoretical knowledge with practical experiences in the field of project budgeting.

“I believe it is of utmost importance to provide students with a direct link between theoretical knowledge and real-sector experiences, so they can better understand the challenges and responsibilities that come with project management work,” emphasized Taso Fejzić, adding that organizations like LDA Mostar, with their long-standing experience, serve as an excellent platform for exchanging knowledge and practices.

From Classroom to Practice: LDA Mostar Strengthens the Skills of Future Professionals

During the visit, students had the opportunity to participate in an interactive presentation dedicated to project budgeting—one of the key skills in today's job market. Through concrete case studies, they familiarized themselves with the process of budget planning and management, ranging from structuring costs according to activities and aligning them with donor regulations, to continuous monitoring of implementation and ensuring the financial sustainability of projects.

A special focus was placed on responsible resource management, transparency in financial reporting, as well as the challenges that organizations face during project implementation. Through an open discussion, students had the chance to ask questions and exchange views on real-life situations and scenarios from civil sector practice.

“I believe the most important thing is to introduce young people to the mindset behind good project management, not just the tools. Budgeting is not a mere administrative obligation, but a process of managing entrusted funds and taking responsibility. That is why it is particularly important to me to convey a practical perspective to students and encourage them to develop independence and confidence in their work, as these are the skills most valued in a professional environment,” noted Anesa Markin, Manager of the Organizational Management Department at LDA Mostar.

The students were also introduced to LDA Mostar's role as the National Contact Point for the Erasmus+ Youth Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina, within SALTO SEE, as well as the opportunities available to young people through these European programs.

Such activities are part of the broader mission of LDA Mostar to empower young people by providing them with knowledge and skills directly applicable in a professional environment, acting as a resource center dedicated to developing expertise, skills, and nurturing a culture of non-formal education. By connecting the academic community with the real sector, LDA Mostar contributes to creating competent and proactive youth ready for the challenges of the job market.
