Strengthening Cooperation for a Better Position of Youth in Mostar

Improving cooperation in the field of youth policies and defining concrete steps for the implementation of measures for youth were the core focus of the meeting between LDA Mostar and the Youth Commission of the City Council of the City of Mostar, opening a structured dialogue on future joint partnership action.

The meeting was attended by councilors Mirza Lalić, Dario Petrović, and Slavko Zovko, alongside the President of the Youth Council of the City of Mostar, Sara Kazazić, all of whom demonstrated a high level of familiarity with the previous work of LDA Mostar.

During the discussion, LDA Mostar was recognized as a relevant and respectable actor in working with and for youth, acting as a local democracy resource center, which represents an important foundation for further partnership.

This meeting is the first in a planned series aimed at establishing a clear framework of cooperation, particularly in the context of the Commission's plans and decisions. The discussions were focused on concrete next steps to enable a more efficient and coordinated implementation of the measures outlined in the Strategy.

Mentorship and Mobility

A special emphasis was placed on LDA Mostar's role as the National Contact Point for the Erasmus+ Youth Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina, within SALTO SEE. The councilors highlighted the significance of this position, recognizing it as an important resource for strengthening the international dimension of youth policies, mentorship support, mobility, and exchanges for young people from Mostar and beyond.

In the coming period, meetings are planned with other levels of government as well, with a specific focus on strengthening the role of LDA Mostar as the National Contact Point. Through these processes, the organization further positions itself as a strategic partner in creating more favorable conditions for the future and retention of young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially by opening opportunities for international cooperation, mobility, and development.

Both sides emphasized the need for continuous and systemic cooperation between government institutions and civil society organizations to ensure a long-term and sustainable impact on the quality of life for young people. It is precisely through a partnership approach and regular dialogue that policies matching the actual needs of youth can be developed.

LDA Mostar remains dedicated to this process, aiming to actively contribute to creating an environment where young people have more opportunities for development, participation, and staying in their community.
