Objective: Project aims to deepen the connection between people from 10 communities from 3 EU (CRO, FR, GR) and 4 non-EU countries (BiH, SRB, MN, AL) and the heritage that surrounds them, as well as to raise their awareness on connections and place their own cultural heritage has in the tapestry of Europe’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.
Through planned activities it gathers and engages in discussions, forums, exchange of practices, study visits, art events a diverse group of participants: state and non-state cultural actors, entrepreneurs, craftsmen, designers, architects, youth groups, local authorities and CSOs.
Activities follow two paths: international events gathering all partners (Caen/Normandy, FR; Knjazevac, SRB; Mostar, BH) and local events in 9 communities. Activities have been designed to reach 750 direct and 100.000 indirect participants, to have strong European dimension and tackle three out of four themes of the European Year of Cultural Heritage: engagement (practices of bringing Europe’s cultural heritage, history and shared values closer to people; direct engaging of young people in a dialogue with state and non-state cultural actors on the policies of promotion and preservation of cultural heritage, exploring cultural heritage and creating artistic reinterpretation of it; engagement of a wider public with those reinterpretations), sustainability (re-imaging public, industrial, religious or military heritage sites; responsible and sustainable tourism developed around cultural heritage) and innovation (education and training for the traditional crafts in order to foster participation and social innovation).
Expected outcomes are raised interest in cultural heritage with direct and indirect participants, awareness of EU policies on cultural heritage and ways of its promotion, protection and sustainable use for socioeconomic development of societies, as well as enforced sense of belonging to a common European space.
Preparatory activities and coordination
”Citizens’ participation in preservation and promotion of cultural heritage in their communities” – this event will gather in Caen – Normandy, France, 80-85 state and non-state cultural actors from all participating countries and communities to share and exchange innovative practices of bringing cultural heritage closer to public, especially to young people.
Pop up galleries: In the framework of this activity 9 partners in 6 countries will publish a call for young artists to submit their art inspired by cultural heritage. Twenty-five (25) youngsters per community will be involved in this activity directly. It will reach at least 500 citizens per community.
”Cultural heritage as a source of urban regeneration: comeback of the craft-making culture” – this event will bring together 70-75 state and non-state cultural actors, entrepreneurs, craftsmen, young designers and CSOs from all participating communities to exchange practices of creative and sustainable use of cultural heritage for social and economic development of communities. Event will be organized in Knjazevac, Serbia.
Community forum, connecting youth and cultural actors: In the framework of this activity 9 partners in 6 countries will organize in their communities a forum to gather young people and cultural actors (state and non-state) in order to boost up participatory approach to preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
”Regenerating heritage: new life for abandoned industrial, religious, military or public buildings” – final event will gather in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 90-95 representatives of cultural actors (state and non-state), heritage experts, local authorities, architects, CSOs and youth groups in order to share and discuss smart restoration, renovation or transformation of heritage sites such are abandoned industrial, religious, military or public buildings.
Communication and dissemination: activities will be realized during whole project, based on the strategy developed and agreed on in preparatory phase. Unified visual style and logo of the project will be designed and Facebook page created. Each partner of the project will put its communication tools at the project’s disposal (website, press, articles, social networks).
Monitoring and evaluation: A list of indicators will be developed and shared with all partners in order to monitor the proceeding of the project’s activities and its outcomes. Evaluation sheets will be created to evaluate each international and local activity separately. A final report of the project will give a summary of the activities and results of the project.
